Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to commonly asked questions about our legal services, process, and what to expect when working with Podor Law.

How do I know if I have a valid personal injury claim?

To know if your claim can be valid, you need to demonstrate a couple of things; (1) That it was due to someone else's negligence or fault, (2) That negligence on their part directly impacted and/or caused your injuries and (3) you suffered from it as a consequence of it. Personal injury claims come in many ways, most common ones are, car accidents, slip and falls, injuries in the workplace, or medical malpractice. But keep in mind that every case is very unique, so we recommend scheduling a completely free consultation with us to check in detail the specifics of your case.

How much does it cost to hire Podor Law?

You don't have to worry, we work on a contingency fee basis for our cases, and that means that you don't pay anything upfront. We would only get paid if we get compensation for you, usually a percentage of the final settlement or the award given by the court. Making sure we only win if you do.

How long do I have to file a personal injury lawsuit?

The statute of limitations depends and varies by state and specific case types. In Ohio, most personal injury claims have to be filed within a 2 year window from the date of the injury. And in Florida, they usually allow 4 years for most injury cases. But keep in mind that certain situations can shorten or expand these deadline windows. So it's really important to consult with an attorney as soon as possible after an injury to make sure you don't miss those deadlines.

What types of compensation can I recover in a personal injury case?

Compensation in personal injury cases usually include: medical expenses, wages lost and diminished earnings capacity, pain and suffering, punitive damages etc. In cases like a wrongful death case, the loved ones of the victim might recover funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and loss of companionship. And due to this high stakes, our attorneys work and fight to make sure that all possible damages done to you in your case get the compensation you deserve.

How long will my personal injury case take to resolve?

Personal injury cases can take time, and the timeline of the cases varies significantly depending on factors like their complexity, severity, how clear liability is of the case, and whether or not the case settles or goes to trial. From our decades of experience, some are very straightforward and might take between 6-12 months, while more complex ones might take 1-5 years or even longer. We understand that this waiting time can be difficult and frustrating, but rushing a case often harms it. Our goal is to win your case as efficiently as possible while making sure you receive compensation from your injuries.

What should I do immediately after an accident or injury?

After an accident, it's extremely important to seek medical attention immediately, even if injuries seem minor. Make sure to report the incident to appropriate authorities, Document everything, take photos of injuries, accident scene, and property damage. Obtain contact and insurance information from all involved parties, and get contact information from witnesses. Do not give recorded statements to insurance companies and keep records of all medical treatments and expenses and contact our office as soon as possible to protect your rights and preserve evidence.

Will my personal injury case go to trial?

Most injury cases settle without going to court, and we'll work hard to get you a fair deal. We prepare every case like it's going to trial so the insurance company knows we mean business. If they won't offer what you deserve, we're ready to fight for you in court. Our attorneys have won plenty of cases and we'll keep you in the loop the whole time. We'll help you decide whether to take a settlement or keep fighting. You'll always know your options.
